Broadcast & Broadband Together

If broadcast spectrum is ceded to broadband, do all the Super Bowl viewers need individual links to watch?  In many cases, broadcast is a much more efficient use of spectrum than broadband.

That concept — and a way to marry the two — is spelled out in “Broadcast Spectrum or Broadband Spectrum? We Want Both,” by Eliot Van Buskirk in Wired: http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2010/03/fcc-mobile-tv/

Thanks to Doug Lung for pointing out the story in his RF Shorts in TV Technology: http://tvtechnology.com/article/97760
